fb photo original I’m thrilled to have been asked to help raise funds for @Furniture_Bank in Mississauga at their  Fundraising Gala on October 30, 2015 at The International Centre (across from Pearson Airport).

A group of #designers were asked to select a piece of donated furniture and give it a makeover incorporating this year’s theme: “What makes a home? What does it mean to you?”.  Yes, it’s called #ChairAffairCDN…but I chose to transform a unique desk with the fabulous retro world map – complete with mug stains!! -to reflect my interpretation of #home.

Check back in to get updates in the next two months…and then attend the Gala to see the Reveal.

In the meantime, do you have any gently used #furniture that you could donate to a needy family? It’s a win-win >You could get a Charitable Tax Receipt for your much needed donation.

“Furniture Banks are registered charities, not-for-profit organizations or social enterprises designed to provide gently used household furnishings to individuals and families in need, at little or no cost.

The movement, which originated in the United States, is now firmly established and continuing to gain momentum in Canada. The basic model involves gently used furniture being donated by people who no longer use it, and transferred to those who are struggling financially to furnish their own homes. Usually, a network of community agencies ensures that the right people get access to the furniture.

It’s a cycle of giving and helping, providing the most vulnerable individuals in society the means to create a true home.” Quote provided by Furniture Bank.
